Syntax-Brillian Launches Olevia™ HDTVs in Japan
Olevia™ to Debut in Public Display & Commercial Markets
Syntax-Brillian Corporation (Nasdaq:BRLC), one of North America’s fastest-growing digital entertainment companies, announced today the launch of its popular, award-winning Olevia™ brand of HDTVs in Japan, where it will debut in the public display and commercial markets.
Working in partnership with leading Japanese high-definition VOD equipment and services provider BMT, Olevia will debut in Japan in the latter part of March 2007 with an initial purchase order from Japanese telecom giant NTT Group of 3,000 42” LCD HDTVs specially designed for the sizeable Japanese public display and commercial markets. NTT Group, with 300,000 employees, multiple facilities and more than $90 billion in revenue, is expected to be a major customer for Olevia Japan.
BMT will continue to serve as a marketing, logistics and support partner for Olevia Japan, helping to identify additional corporate customers, coordinate marketing efforts, execute brand strategy, and grow Olevia Japan market share within the Japanese public display and commercial markets.
Syntax-Brillian has received an initial purchase order of 20,000 42” LCD TV units from BMT and is expected to begin delivery during the second quarter of 2007. In the second half of 2007, Syntax-Brillian anticipates introducing 42”, 47”, 52” and 65” Olevia LCD 1080p HDTVs for the Japanese corporate and commercial markets featuring state-of-the-art 120-hertz panels provided by Sharp. Syntax-Brillian anticipates sales of approximately 50,000 units for Olevia Japan in 2007.
Olevia Japan HDTVs have been awarded with Japanese FCC class B certifications for power supply, noise and radiation as well as certification for meeting Japanese environmental regulations. Olevia Japan HDTVs are the only foreign HDTVs to receive these designations, which are awarded only to products meeting the highest Japanese corporate and commercial market standards.
“Olevia is fortunate to debut in Japan with partners as skilled and experienced as BMT and NTT Group,” said Vincent Sollitto, CEO of Syntax-Brillian. “We look forward to creating a reputation for unsurpassed quality and innovation as we establish the Olevia brand in Japan and continue to expand it throughout the Asia-Pacific region.”
“As a new brand in Japan, Olevia’s quality and dedication to technical excellence impressed us greatly,” said Mr. Hiroshi Asamizu, CEO of BMT. “Olevia creates first-class HDTVs that equal the performance of tier-one brands at a more affordable cost. We look forward to working with Olevia to create impressive public displays as well as new products and technologies.”
Olevia Japan will be run by Shinichi Hirabayashi, Ph.D. A former General Manager of Toshiba, Dr. Hirabayashi led the global introduction of Toshiba PCs and holds multiple patents in optical and LCD display technology and equipment. Olevia Japan’s operations will be centered near Tokyo in one of the top industrial parks in Japan.
Dr. Hirabayashi will work in conjunction with BMT to develop new and improved products and technical designs to meet the demands of the Japanese market while overseeing Olevia Japan’s current business operations. He will also manage the creation of new remote controls and the production of a Japanese-language user manual.
