Nikon D40x gets reviewed

The Nikon D40x is a small update to the already feature filled and excellently priced Nikon D40. The D40x has some large updates compared to the D40, including an upgrade to 10 megapixels from just 6 as well as a wider range of ISO speeds, now starting at 100 and increasing up to 3200. With the D40x’s 2.5inch screen and 10.2 megapixel count, the D40x is almost identical to it’s big brother, the D80.
The D40x does not use the 10MP sensor of its upscale sibling, the D80, but, says Nikon, a “similar” APS-C-sized CCD. Figuring this was a lower-cost CCD, we worried it would show compromises in performance. Wrong. Image Quality data from the Pop Photo Lab proved about on par with the D80
The D40x is only $729.95 for the body or $799.95 for the package including its 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S lens. I’ve recently taken the dive into Digital SLR’s and sort of second guessing my camera choice, as this camera is amazing for the price.
