Motorola Invests In Wireless HDTV
Washington, D.C. (March 14, 2007) -- Motorola has invested in an Israeli company that offers technology that can send wireless High-Definition signals.
The investment is the latest sign that the consumer electronics industry is moving to wireless high-def.
Seven leading electronics companies (WirelessHD Consortium) last October announced they are teaming to develop a new wireless technology that can send high-def signals to your set without a single cord.
The wireless technology, which could be installed in sets as early as next year, is expected to operate within a range of 32 feet if used in the same room. Wireless high-def images are supposed to offer the same quality as video transmitted via wires.
Motorola yesterday announced its investment in Amimon, the Israeli company which has developed a technology that can enable wireless and uncompressed high-def images.
Samsung has also announced a 50-inch Plasma in Japan that can display high-def video without wires. And Apple is scheduled this month to launch Apple TV which will wirelessly send high-def video from a PC to the TV.
